In-Mold Labels
In-Mold Labeling (IML) is an advanced packaging solution where the label becomes part of the container itself during manufacturing. A pre-printed decorative film is placed inside a mold before the plastic is formed. When the resin or pellets are injected or blown into the mold, the label fuses seamlessly with the container—creating a single, tamper-proof product.
At Lauterbach Group, we specialize in high-quality IML solutions that combine striking design with durability and sustainability.
In-Mold Labels are ideal for brands that demand premium aesthetics and functional durability. Common applications include:
- Food & Beverage Packaging
- Personal Care & Cosmetics
- Household Products
- Industrial & Specialty Containers
How In-Mold Labeling Works
IML is achieved through two main molding methods:
- Injection Molding – A label is placed inside the mold, and molten plastic resin is injected, permanently bonding with the label.
- Blow Molding – Similar to glass blowing, the label is positioned inside the mold, and air pressure shapes the plastic, embedding the label into the surface.
Both methods ensure seamless integration of the label for a smooth, scratch-resistant finish.
